Hair Accessories You Can DIY At Home!

August 31, 2019

Are you looking for the latest seasonal trends for hair accessories?

Celebrities and fashion enthusiasts are bringing the trend of headbands, hair clips, and hair ties back in style.

Kylie Jenner bought her daughter, Stormi Webster a few gold bedazzled barrettes. You can use Stormi’s cute style as inspiration to create some of your own stylish barrettes.

Anyone can make DIY hair accessories and wear them in any season of the year. The projects can also be made as gifts for friends and family. I have made a list of ideas and tutorials that you can do it yourself in your own home. All the necessary supplies can be found in any store at low prices.

A Cosmopolitan Magazine writer, Ira discovered how using a pretty hairpiece on your hair can make a beautiful difference to your overall look. Look down below and you'll find a list of several ideas to inspire you to try some of these hair trends.

I like to wear hair ties, scrunchies, bows, and headbands. I would try the Satin bows and Label Love look (from the article above). What accessory or hairstyle would you wear?

Here I have linked five DIY Projects to help you get started......

Jessica G. made hair clips with small letters, hairpins, glue, and an x-acto knife! I love how the aqua color brightens up the barrettes and the girl’s hair. You can use acrylic paint to change the letter colors to your liking.

Nirxsha created some hairpins using wooden letters, bobby pins, black markers, one pack of fake rhinestones, glue sticks, tweezers, and super glue. You can watch her tutorial here…

Lindsay B. will show you how to create three easy hair clips with E6000 Glue, packs of modeling clay, rolling pin, an X-acto knife, fake pearls (or necklaces/bracelets with beads), and fabric pieces. Lindsay's tutorial linked below...

Fabiola filmed an 8-minute video of ten hair barrette tutorials. For most of the projects, you will need hair clips, a bobby pin, and glue. Her video below...

Are you interested in more classy and fancy looks?

Check Lauren J. on how to make pearl hair clips and barrettes. You’ll need duckbill clips, a rectangle barrette, pearl beads, tweezers, and clear gel glue.

MaCenna has found a shiny easy way to glam up her hair barrettes. Watch the video to find out how to make them.

If you’re not interested in making your own hairpins, you can also buy them from stores such as AliExpress. As an example, here’s a link to find custom word hairclips up to 8 letters with rhinestones for $2.55-$10.20 (on sale).

I hope the list of ideas has inspired you to start upcycling old hair accessories into something you would wear again.
